Rose Quartz and Serenity – Pantone’s Colours of the Year
At the start of 2016, Pantone continued its annual tradition of naming a “Colour of the Year”. This year, it chose two shades – “Rose Quartz” and “Serenity”. Rose Quartz is a warm, light pink that complements the soft pale blue Serenity. Some people may find that these gentle pastel hues take a bit of getting used to, but the head honchos at Pantone have chosen wisely: these two colours are the perfect counterbalance to the chaos of the modern world. On top of this, the way that one colour blends into the other is meant to represent gender equality, one of today’s hottest topics.
You may well baulk at the idea of decorating your apartment in these candy-floss colours. But don’t be afraid of pastels! The key to success lies in using them sparingly – by adding a splash of colour to your living room with individual objects, for instance. Offset Rose Quartz with concrete, grey and petrol tones, and contrast light blue objects against white, grey or beige surroundings or stand them on a bronze base. Show you’re not afraid to experiment with colour and bring warmth to your stylish interior with a Rose Quartz carpet or wall.
IKEA’s verdict: give it a go – it’s all about finding the right combination!
